It is with great excitement that we announce the opening of our brand new ‘The Stocks’ Tasting Room.
Not only is ‘The Stocks’ Tasting Room a beautiful space for our guests but it also offers a more in-depth and immersive experience. With no traditional tasting bench we bring the experience to our guests, whether it be at one of our barrel end tables in ‘The Stocks’ Tasting Room or in the sun-filled courtyard or famous Coterie Restaurant, all of WOODSTOCK is a cellar door.
The fit out was completed by the incredibly talented George Spencer from Spencer Building Group, who brought our rough sketches to life and embraced the use of the historic Jarrah to give us a flagship venue to showcase our product in a space that truly reflects the quality of and ethos behind our wines.
All the amazing WA Jarrah timber used in ‘The Stocks’ Tasting Room has a rich South Australian history; purchased by Doug Collett in 1974 from the Mildara winery in Mildura – where they had been used for brandy production for over 70 years – they made their way to McLaren Vale where we continued to use them for fortified production for many years.
Our WOODSTOCK Wildlife and Wine Experience Project was lucky enough to receive a grant from the Department of Primary Industries and Regions SA as part of the South Australian Wine Industry Development Scheme Cellar Door Grants Program which helped make this development happen. The project continues with the next stage of upgrades to our log cabin accommodation and the finalisation of plans and licensing options for a wildlife viewing platform and tasting area adjacent to our wildlife sanctuary.
All of this happens in a very special year for us. 2018 marks three significant anniversaries for WOODSTOCK and the Collett Family: 45 years since Doug Collett first purchased the McLaren Flat property, 35 years since his son Scott Collett embraced the history of the property and released the first wines under the now famous WOODSTOCK name and 30 years since we opened the first winery restaurant in McLaren Vale – our Coterie Restaurant.
