2012 Woodstock 'Little Miss Collett' Moscato

Background

Scott Collett and the Woodstock winemaking team created this partially fermented, effervescent Moscato with a special family member in mind – Little Miss Collett.  A lover of fashion and style, Little Miss Collett is known for her vibrancy and her “breath of fresh air” confident demeanour.

After researching and tasting over 30 Moscatos, the vibrant Northern Italian styles inspired us with their natural acidity and full fruit richness. Our first release 2012 Moscato draws on many years of winemaking experience to delight the senses with animated, elegant flavours.

Winemaking

Herbal freshness and crisp acidity were achieved by picking White Frontignac grapes early in the season. Muscat syrup was used during a careful fermentation process, adding to the texture and richness.

The fermentation process was stopped early by freezing the wine. This technique crafts a low alcohol wine with natural sweetness and effervescence.

A touch of 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon (0.6%) was added to inject a blush colour, which will deepen a little with time in the bottle.

The Wine

Floral aromas of rose petals and musk at first, followed by a sherbet palate with zesty lemon and a touch of spice on the finish. Fine beads help to fill the mouth with flavour while natural grape acids balance the fruity Muscat sweetness.

Less sugar than most Australian Moscato styles, this sophisticated wine shows appealing finesse with a balanced depth of lingering flavour.

Serving Suggestion

Serve with brunch or High Tea, with lots of berries, macaroons or canapés - Little Miss Collett can also be confidently served on its own at any fun, festive occasion.
